Week 3

This week, we worked on the team GDD and the presentation for Wednesday. We discussed ideas for the functional and narrative flowboards for our game before deciding which features we planned to implement and how each section would flow into the next. Then we decided that our primary gameplay mode would be a 3rd person shooter where the player is given an avatar for which to explore the world. As a secondary gameplay mode we would be presented when the character is in a dialogue tree, which causes the player to enter dialogue mode. In dialogue mode the player can make decisions in order to progress in a more diplomatic function and affect the story based on those actions. We came up with some UI for our game. Our core game loop got more or less finalized too: the player is going to be preoccupied with exploring the game world, encountering NPCs, and looking for power-ups and interesting locations, all with the goal of meeting the game objective of fixing the spaceship and leaving Athiktos.


Our goal for next week we are aiming for is to come up with a playable prototype, with player controls and basic UI.
